Husky Highlights: CCIS

I'm Chris Jelly, a fourth-year Northeastern University CCIS student on co-op at HubSpot in Cambridge, MA.

I'm blogging for admissions throughout the year about my awesome experiences on co-op and in classes come Spring, so stay tuned!

  1. For an inside look at the Northeastern experience and to see what our students are up to, follow us on Instagram!

  2. Global Experiences

Northeastern University prides itself in providing global experiences for students—study abroad, co-op abroad, service learning, and dialogue are just four examples.

I currently have a friend studying abroad in Edinburgh, Scotland. Tomorrow evening I’m flying to London to meet up with him and have my first global experience. Wish me luck!

  3. Northeastern’s business school (formerly the College of Business Administration) received a $60,000,000 gift from two alums, Rich D’Amore and Alan McKim. The gift will enable the college to hire better faculty, provide a better experience to students through entrepreneurship programs and scholarships, and much more.

Check out the above video—it’s truly a great time to be a member of the Northeastern community!

  4. Ask me!

Ask me anything about Northeastern student life. I’ll do my best to answer some of the best questions!

  5. CCIS student Ali Ukani wrote Huskygram, a small web app that aggregates Instagram photos taken near Northeastern’s campus or tagged with the hashtag #Northeastern. His site has garnered media coverage from Northeastern and BostInno and provides a great way to check out our campus and what students are doing at the school. Check it out!

  6. Check out this awesome article (published by Northeastern Marketing & Communications) about Google’s driverless car and the concerns that come along with it. The piece features a College of Computer and Information Science professor, Marty Vona.

  7. Northeastern is awesome because it always provides students with fun trips and things to do. This is especially great during the summer when less people are around and the weather is nice. The events are open to all students who will be on campus during the summer, and many of them are very cheap. Check it out!

  8. End of semester!

The busy week of final exams is over, and it’s great to be on break again!

I have a week to relax and enjoy the almost warm weather in Boston, but then things start right back up again: I’ll be taking two classes while working at Northeastern in the Advancement division during Summer 1 (May and June), and in July, I start my second co-op at HubSpot in Cambridge!

Summer in Boston is nothing short of spectacular—stay tuned for photos and updates!

  9. "They may have degrees from well-respected institutions, but many have been unable to get jobs because employers would rather choose workers with experience in their industries. For the past 100 years, Northeastern University in Boston has had a program that addresses this issue."
    — Great article in USA Today about Northeastern’s unique experiential education model.

  10. Last week, a student org that I’m a part of (NUTV) hosted Campus MovieFest, the world’s largest student film festival. Students have one week to make a five-minute film and if they win at Northeastern, they have a chance to compete in the finals in LA later this year. Check out one of this year’s submissions for Best Comedy above!
